![]() Others volunteer here as a way to develop new skills and gain confidence. ![]() Many clients visiting The Brain Charity to access our other services enjoy spending time in the café, which is also fully open to the general public. The Brain Food Café is the central hub of The Brain Charity’s centre, and a focal point for our close community. A warm and welcoming atmosphere at The Brain Charity We also serve breakfasts, afternoon snacks, teas and coffees and cold drinks. Nutritious lunch classics include sandwiches, toasties, soups, salads, baked potatoes, pies, curries and burgers – with salads grown on-site in our edible wall. All in all, this place is what other coffee shops should be.Currently, our menu includes delicious specials packed with essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids for brain health, and each incorporating at least 3 of your 5-a-day. The clerk was quick to point out the parfait was made with almond milk which I appreciated since my wife is allergic, knowledgeable staff being a rare find these days. My kid is vegan and I noted they offered a non-dairy parfait along with some other vegan stuff. I live in Lawrenceville but will make a point to come back here and possibly bring others with me. Good customer service is good customer service. I bring this up only to point out the shop caters to a variety of clientele. I overheard an attorney and clients discussing a non-disclosure agreement. One reviewer mentioned overhearing others talking about the Bible. That said, the music was quiet and minimally obtrusive. ![]() Contemporary Christian is not my cup of tea the same way tv playing in a business (this place thankfully did not have tv) is not something I care for. A couple other reviews mentioned the music that plays. Pastry is not quite on par with what you'd get from a bakery cafe but it's far and away superior to what you'd get served at a chain establishment. To me, this says a lot about the care and pride they take in their business. Outside of places overseas, I can't remember the last time I got to drink espresso from a real cup in a coffee shop. I don't mean styrofoam I mean a quaint ceramic cup with a handle. Not only was it brought upstairs to me but get this - the espresso was served in an actual cup. I had a double espresso up there along with a heated cinnamon roll. Speaking of upstairs, it had a great loft feel complete with small tables and chairs and sofa seating. Indeed, I spotted two people on laptops, one downstairs and one upstairs. Lighting is dim but still such that you could work by it if you so chose. In fact, for anything this place is possibly lacking, it would easily make up for in ambiance. The vibe is warm and friendly without being too in your face. I enjoy walking at Cherokee Bluffs Park, which is a short drive away, and when I searched Yelp for coffee this place came up. Meanwhile, I suggest you give this place a try. One of these days I'll expand my horizons and try out the lunch items. I go with the crescent and it makes a huge sandwich and very yummy meal. You chose how you want it - bread, meat, egg/or not, cheese - then take a seat and your food is delivered shortly. My favorite menu item is the "build your own" breakfast sandwich. The coffee as I stated is excellent and I always get the refillable cub and spend an hour or two relaxing and visiting with friends. I usually go in the mornings so my food review is going to be limited to the breakfast menu. The decor is rustic with a variety of seating options from traditional restaurant tables to a relaxed sofa coffee table setting. but the coffee shop/cafe is actually quite large when you consider it's seating is on 2 stories. I'm glad to report that Whole Being is back open and the excellent coffee, food, and service is back too. I have become a "regular" at Whole Being over the past several months, but like everybody else had to take a break for a couple of months because of COVID-19. Enough about that because obviously I'm posting here. I noticed there are recent reviews for Common Grounds but the posting all refer to Whole Being Cafe. I wasn't sure if I should post the review here for Whole Being Cafe or under Common Grounds Coffee Shop (the previous name).
